Psynchrony is a cinematic rhythm action game for the iPad. You play as Kay, a young writer whose path through life has come to a crossroads. In order to break free from the rigid rhythms of her daily routine, Kay must reach the center of her inner dream world and confront the shadowy figure who has haunted her since childhood.

My name is Julian Kantor, a game designer and visual music artist. Psynchrony is my MFA thesis project for the USC School of Cinematic Arts' Interactive Media and Games Division. I work at the intersection of music, games, narrative and visual art, and aim to create indelible, gripping experiences that engage both the mind and the senses.

But I can't make this game by myself! I need to give a huge shout-out to my awesome collaborators on this project: Natalie Gravier (design, art), Zach R.D. (design, programming) and Ascot Smith (producer). Please check out and support their work.

As we continue to make Psynchrony, we'll post progress reports, in-depth breakdowns of the development processes we use, and explanations of different facets of the game itself.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any comments or questions, either through the comment sections or Twitter. The team and I would love to hear from you!
